Good tasting on Thursday. All the wines showed well but in particular the Riesling from Germany and Cabernet Syrah Winemakers Selection from Aromo.
A change of plan for next Thursday though. Where we were going to be sampling French whites we have instead decided to showcase the wines of Josef Grillmaier of Langenlois in Austria. We have surplus stock and want to place a new order with Josef so need to shift a little. To this end we will be pricing a couple of these wines very aggressively indeed – possibly even half price…….
Six whites and three reds in the range and we would urge both those familiar with Austria and those new to it to consider coming.
The Vessière is the new 2009 Rouge and represents the first vintage organically grown (although not yet accredited)
The 2009 Vieux Parc wines are Corbière l’Air de Rien which I believe to be a completely new production and 2008 Corbière la Sélection which is the posh version of the one we stock already. This last wine regularly wins medals and is really special.
The reason I mention these is that I propose to open them today (Saturday) to taste in the Felixstowe shop and if anyone is interested, they are most welcome to pop in and try them too. I can’t sell you any just now but, if we like them, they could be available in a month or so.
